Alpina E31 B12 5.7
BMW’s 90s Halo car, the 8 series was from the outset aimed at the most demanding clientele. It’s gorgeously understated styling and extensive luxury options mean the 8 series makes a fantastic Grand Tourer. BMW never made an M car out of the 8 Series and as a result Alpina, famed BMW Tuner jumped into the niche and produced the B12, an uprated and hardcore version of the 8 series Gran tourer.
The B12 5.7 is not based on any ordinary E31 8 Series, instead it is based upon the already high performance 850CSI, the sportiest model 8 series produced. Alpina still was not satisfied with the 381HP and 550NM of torque available from the already excellent 5.6 liter V12 and set about modifying it to realize its full potential. What emerged was a 5.7 liter V12 with reworked camshafts, a new crankshaft, new intake plenum and a new sportier exhaust to make the fantastic V12 much more audible then the standard model. All these changes worked. Very well. Now producing 416HP at 5400RPM and a huge 570NM at 4000RPM the B12 5.7 was at the time the most powerful Alpina ever produced.
This example is #51 of the 57 produced, and has recently been recomissioned after being off the road for 15 years. Exclusively dealer maintained (large collection of invoices and receipts present) repainted in legendary Dakar Gelb in period (Repaint completed by BMW, invoice present) and comes with a German registration.
